Sailing the Greek islands – planning vacation ahead

Planning ahead the next vacation (haven’t had much vacation this year, so it’s nice to dream ;-) ), sailing in the Greek islands, here are some links I found:

* in particular
* I also ordered a book [Greek Waters Pilot](http://www.amazon.com/Greek-Waters-Pilot-Rod-Heikell/dp/0852887019/), which seems to be a must have.

I found a bunch of charter websites (just [googling for "greece bareboat charter](http://www.google.ch/search?q=greece+bareboat+charter) gets you a lot of results) but still need some time to sort them through. I also need to figure out which the boat I want. So far it looks that a 6-8 people boat is an expense on the order of 1500-2000 EUR/week. Also, you can get an early-booking discount until sometime in February.

Any experiences/suggestions/recommendations about chartering a boat in Greece?

I don’t have any personal experiences with sailing the Greek Islands, only heard the amazing stories of others who have, but if you haven’t already looked at http://www.noonsite.com, it’s a great site for planning/dreaming about sailing trips.

Found your site while searching for help with Bash command line args. Really interesting blog! I wish I’d seen the bit about pcregrep a couple weeks ago. I ended up doing the ‘write a Perl script’ option to do a line-spanning s///g, but would’ve rather had a simple one-liner in the script.

I’ll have to try out the gallery/google maps plug in. I’m an avid geocacher (I ran a little store of my own, http://www.gps-value.com, before joining Symantec to work on spam and virus filtering products).

    have fun!

I have been to the islands 4 times and chartered a sailboat each time. You can read about my latest trip on my blog.
I would be happy to help you find a charter to meet your needs. Our skipper from the last trip is part owner of the Arianna,
so you can book directly with him, or I can help you find sites to find other boat options. Feel free to email me directly.

Heads up for all men who leave their wives on board.

My wife hired a skipper, Ludovic Paul, to sail her boat. Mr Paul was living on the island of Syros.
He ended up teaching her more than the ropes.
One evening in my absence Mr Paul and my wife became drunk. As one thing leads to another, they made love.
The next day, Mr Ludovic Paul threatened to tell me about what had happened unless my wife gave him 15000 Euros.
She refused his extortion, subsequently he threatened to burn our boat if she didn’t pay up.
My wife called me and told me what had happened.
When I arrived, Mr Ludovic Paul would not let me board and threatened me with arrest.

My wife fired Mr Paul immediately, however he refuses to leave the boat, which is now on hard in Marmaris, Turkey.
This man is unprofessional and dangerous .

They can also advise why Bradenton real estate and Sarasota real estate can be such a good investment. If youre looking for Florida real estate for Sarasota County or for Sarasota Bradenton real estate or a home in Sarasota, this is the right place….

    Hi
Obviously Mr Smithe had some problems with his wife, he is telling us that, she hired a skipper then she had an affair then she fired him and told to her husband everything about it? What a bad scenario! But Mr Smithe should wonder why she did that? Is their relationship going well? There is no doubt that a woman do not do those things without any good reasons, even it is right that girls easy fall in love with skippers or a surfers, because of their life style, adventurer, sun tan, nice body, the all package so attractive for a girl. Honestly if my girl friend was having an affair I’ll be angry yes but, I will start first to find out what is wrong in our relationship.
Man if you can’t make your girl happy then live alone or find another but please don’t come and cry.
It is so easy to discriminate the skipper, that I can hear here is anger and frustration but not the truth
internet is a good tool we can find everything but also anything
the world is full of crazy people like Mr Smithe unfortunatly

good sailing to all, have fun
